ice cream truck out my window

neighborhood kids are running,
sweaty,
up and down the hill next to my house.

i see them differently...
with spring eyes
the kind that have been cold
far too long.

the ice cream truck..
keep singing
kids,
keep running

it's been five days since i've gotten engaged.
it's been four hours since i fell in love with a stranger.
it's been about 5 minutes since i checked my email.
